I read with great admiration the courage of the woman, who back in the day, was suffering from
the issue of blood. She was very determined to get a cure for her medical condition having spent all that she had with physicians in a bid to find the elusive cure. What I find most touching and life changing was her doggedness. She knew beyond any reasonable doubt that if, and only if, she could push her way through the throng of people and touch Jesus, she would be healed! And she was healed. She pushed her way through the crowd of people and touched Jesus and she got her healing instantly. The bleeding stopped immediately!
But wait! Jesus asked who touched him! Yes who touched him! How could Jesus asking such a lame (excuse the word) question when all around him, people are pushing and pulling one another to get a better view of the healing spree! But Jesus knew that power had gone out of him. That was really cool! Jesus knew that someone had got a breakthrough in midst of all stuff going on in the crowd. That is amazing that God could hear me in the cacophony of supplications. Two important lessons emerge here for me.
The first is that we must not give up, no matter how hard the odds are against us, especially if what we want is crucial to our existence. No matter the distractions and the discouragement that we face because we feel that our case is hopeless and God would not hear us!
Second lesson is; that of identifying what your problem is using a biblical approach to solve it. The woman, whose name is unimportant to this life-changing story, knew that if only she could connect with Christ she would be healed. She stayed focused on that goal of connecting with the LORD to get a healing. She has seen and heard of the Almightiness of Christ and knew that if she could touch the helm of his garment she would be healed.
In my Christian walk, when I face a challenge, as long as I can see a biblical parallel, I know I can overcome. I take God at his word by reminding HIM of his word in that instance (Isaiah 43:26, Isaiah 55:17). If he did it before he would do it for me again. You know why? Because He is the same God of yesterday, today and evermore and He is immutable!
